CW Impact 11u Claim Greenville Tournament

Stevens Point– The Central Wisconsin Impact 11U baseball team traveled to Greenville, Wisconsin over the Fourth of July holiday weekend for the Firecracker tournament and came away with a 4-0 record and their third tournament championship of the year.

The Impact is now 17-2 on the season.

The Impact opened up the tournament with the Oshkosh Black team on Saturday morning. It was a tightly contested game going eight innings to decide the victor. With the Trey Zagrzebski on second, Isaac Cychosz hit a hard grounder to second allowing Trey to move to third. Logan Schulfer then came up and scorched a shot to the right center field gap to push Trey across and give the Impact a 7-6 victory in the opening game. Marcus Jaworski got the start on the mound and Jared Mountin came on for the final three innings of relief.

In the second game of the day on Saturday, the Impact took on Waupun who was also at 1-0 in the bracket. The Impact bats were alive early in the game and put up 16 runs in the contest. Isaac Cychosz took the hill and allowed one run over three innings. The game was over after three on a mercy rule 16-1 victory.

Sitting at 2-0, the Impact was scheduled to take on the Chippewa Falls All-Stars in the semifinal game. The hours off didn’t affect the team’s bats or arms however as the Impact came out swinging early. Isaac Cychosz pitched 3 scoreless innings and Marcus Jaworski threw a scoreless fourth inning as the Impact went on to a 10-0 victory over Chippewa Falls.

The championship game on Sunday was a rematch with Waupun. This game, unlike the first game, was highly contested with both teams playing very good baseball. The Impact got on the board early in the first to take a 2-0 lead. Carson Guck took the hill and pitched five shutout innings for the team. In the fourth inning, the Impact was able to put another two runs on the scoreboard to make the game 4-0 off a blast from the bat of Logan Schulfer that bounced over the fence for a ground rule double. Jared Mountin took the hill for 5-6 innings. In the fifth with runners on first and second, Waupun’s number two hitter cranked a deep line drive. Tanner Schude did an excellent job feeling the wall and with a leap stole a homerun from Waupun that would have made the game 4-3. The Impact survived the fourth with a great catch in right field from Tristan Schelvan. In the bottom of the fifth the Impact were able to push across another run as Marcus Jaworski came through with a big two out RBI base hit to score Trey. Staked to a 5-0 lead Jared kept pumping in strikes. Isaac made a beautiful play field a hard hit ground ball behind second base to throw out the runner at first. With two quick strike outs Jared had finished off the Waupun Warriors and the Impact team had completed the tournament sweep to take home the championship.

The Central Wisconsin Impact team is now 17-2 on the season with tournament championships at the Gameday USA Wisconsin State Championships, the Columbus Renegades Tournament, and the Greenville Griffins tournament. The team also has a second place finish at the Wisconsin Rockhounds tournament in Milwaukee. The team also finished 2-1 at the Grand Chute 12u tournament but didn’t advance on tiebreaker rules.

The Impact team will be at the Bigler Tournament in Brookfield July 12-13.
