The Central Wisconsin Impact WIn GameDay USA WIsconsin State Championship

Stevens Point– The Central Wisconsin Impact 11u Baseball team competed in the Gameday USA Wisconsin State Championships June 27 -30th and came away 4-0. The team was presented championship rings to commemorate winning the Wisconsin State Championship.

The Impact opened pool play on Friday June 27th against the Roadrunners from West Chicago. The team played flawless baseball winning 9-0 to start the tournament. Marcus Jaworski got the win on the mound pitching a complete game shutout.

The Impact returned to pool play on Saturday June 28th against the CDBL Rockets from Elgin Illinois. Once again the Impact pitching was outstanding. Tyler Beyer took a no hitter into the sixth inning before a walk, and error, and a hit lead to two runs. The Impact earned the victory by a 6-2 score. The victory ensured that the team would not have to play again until Sunday’s semi final game by earning the number 2 seed in pool play.

A rematch was scheduled for Sunday June 29th against the CDBL Rockets who earned a place in the semi final game with a win over Orland Park Illinois. The Rockets (the three seed from the pool), jumped out to an early lead over the Impact due to defensive miscues. After 4 and a ½ innings complete, the Impact team was down 11-3. Facing mercy rule elimination, the Impact team pushed across two runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to allow the game to move to the sixth inning. Moving into the bottom of the 6th, the Impact team was still down 11-5. That is when the bats came to life. The team recorded hits by Isaac Cycosz, Tyler Beyer, Logan Schulfer, Nathan Konkol, Marcus Jaworski, Tanner Schude, Tristain Schelvan, and Carson Guck. With the tying run on third and the winning run on second, the CDBL Rockets coach elected to intentionally walk Nathan Kropidlowski to load the bases. Jared Mountin was due up next and promptly hit a shot up the middle allowing two runs to score and completing an improbable comeback victory for the Impact by scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The win allowed the Impact team to move on to the championship game.

The team carried the momentum from the semi final game to the championship game against the FCA Impact team from Chicago, Illinois. The Impact team had the bats going early jumping out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning. Isaac Cychosz was brought on to pitch the championship game and was a machine pumping strikes and getting ahead of hitters. Defensively Logan Schulfer threw out 3 would-be base stealers in the game. The hitting continued, and by the end of the 4th inning the game was over due to a 13-3 Central Wisconsin Impact win on a mercy rule.

The Central Wisconsin Impact 11u Baseball team is now 14-2 on the season with championships in the Gameday USA Wisconsin State Championships and Columbus Renegades tournament. The Impact also has a second place finish at the Wisconsin Rock Hounds tournament. The team was also 2-1 in the Grand Chute 12u tournament but failed to advance on tie breaker rules.
